You all have had some great suggestions about what to do with the photos, and if I had twelve more hours in a day I would totally consider some of them. What I was getting at was more that I want to safely destroy them, for two reasons, one practical and one magical:
1. The reason I'm not keeping them is that I want less clutter in my life, less work and stress for me. Yes, as an artist my first urge is always to create something out of them, but that's not really viable right now, and I want them taking up no space, not differently-shaped space, in my home.
(Regarding this, I have a relatively uncluttered life in the physical sense, but I have been consciously reducing the amount of clutter that crosses my brain every day; I should do a post about this later.)
2. Because these photos do have a story value that's simply not locked in to me, because they have a magic of their own, I don't want to send them off to be bought or messed about with by other people. It's much the same thing, admittedly, as wizards being careful about disposing of fingernail clippings in the Discworld books; despite being useless to me they do hold a connection to me and to the people they are of.
I did find an interesting if seriously dippy article about the magical treatment of photographs, though, so I think I've formulated a plan. But you guys know how much I value your input, and it was my lack of clarity that really caused the cross-communication, so I thank you for it nonetheless :)
