It is the nearest working day to Valentine's Day, and here in Corporate America (it's less fun than Blogland) that means flowers. The first wave has already arrived, and I'm sure by noon I'll be working from the heart of a very fragrant jungle. Everybody loves to get flowers but very few people want to come pick them up, and Coworker Fail, who does at least make himself useful delivering things, is out today.

But someone did send me a Bear Hug today, or at least some kind of subtle bear frottage *peers at it* Thank you, Anonymous! I LOLed when I got it this morning.

It is also a day of epic interviews, apparently; this is the first time my lobby hasn't had some poor sweaty-palmed bastard sitting nervously in it, waiting to be quizzed about his managerial style and where he wants to be in five years' time.

I am very glad I have a job, even if like today it involves more fragrance than I'm really comfortable with. :D
After speaking with Human Resources, I decided to lock my last entry -- it's nothing super-dramatic, if you missed it. Suffice it to say that I sent an email to one of my managers, detailing a grievance, and he responded with an irrelevant observation about me personally. It wasn't harassing or hostile, it was just so totally irrelevant that HR got marginally involved. It's all good, though, no worries here.

In other news, there's a couple who ride the same train I do and get off at my stop, and we end up sitting across from each other perhaps once or twice a week. One of them is apparently Jack Harkness; he has a detailed greatcoat with rank stripes and everything, and wears khakis and a blue shirt underneath, while his girlfriend wears a fleecy hat with wolf ears on it and a kick-ass leather jacket. I think they are possibly the most adorable couple in Chicago. If I felt it was kosher to share photos, I would do so, but take my word on it: they are made of awesome. I ADMIRE YOU FROM AFAR, JACK AND WOLFIE!
In news of the not stupid, I have many links to share!

ALL ABOUT ME: Lulu.com is having a President's Day sale, and from now through the 15th you can get 15% off the cost of books sitewide by using the code WASHINGTON. This includes Nameless and Other People Can Smell You, which are my babies. D'aw. *fond look*

Other People Can Smell You makes a great high school graduation gift, and Nameless is a lovely winter read. You can always find them for sale at my storefront, http://www.extribulum.com . Both have a permanently-free PDF version available for download there as well.

I want to remind people (because I forgot myself) that I'm going to be setting the price of the Nameless e-book at $3. I'm setting an ALARM this time to remind me to do this on Sunday, so if you want a copy of the e-book free you should download it post-haste.

You can also buy The Secret Of Chicago but I wouldn't recommend it, you have to buy three at once and I just did it on a lark for a contest one time.

FANDOM INCOMING: [livejournal.com profile] internal666 linked me to Tonner Dolls of the Doctor and Martha and Jack and Gwen, for those of you who collect such things. I'm just going to sit here and LOL at Jack's hair.

AND FINALLY: Anon thinks I make a good Aziraphale, despite how hard I try to be a terrible person. :D Hello, Anon! I am smiling beatifically just for you.

(I had to google Milo Thatch. The resemblance isn't perfect, but it's not bad. I wish my hair did that thing his does. Also I would not be averse to running around and averting the apocalypse with Neil Gaiman.)
I am posting a lot tonight. I credit being free of work for the week! Normally I love my job, but this week has been drama-tastic.

[livejournal.com profile] bluejeans07, to whom you gave EXCELLENT cooking advice recently, reminded me that the new Girls Drawing Girls show opens tonight. Girls Drawing Girls is a group of animators and artists who come together to draw their interpretations of pinup girls, and if you're in the Los Angeles area you should check out their new show opening tonight and running through the 27th.

Which, correct me if I'm wrong, means all you folks going to Gallifrey 21 could do a field trip to see hot pinup art, were you so inclined (and come on -- tell me you don't want to visit a store called Vlad The Retailer). All the info's at the link.

I am working on the Charitable Getting rewrite. I am on page 13 of 30 for chapter one, 13 of 194 for the book as a whole. And at least six of those thirteen are front matter.

*weeps*
