Thank you for your patience!
Good morning, Blogland! I come bearing links! Links about Jack Harkness.

First, [livejournal.com profile] durayan did a gorgeous portrait of Lo Boeshane in uniform that I wanted to share. Awwww baby Jack with his sticky-out ears. *pats his head*

Second, [livejournal.com profile] 51stcenturyfox has found what might be the best backstage photo ever, and we're all over there manipping things Jack Harkness wants to lick (ie: everything). Mine is here. Come join in the fun!

Third, I have a fanfiction for you. I know, right? There's been a lot lately. I'm trying to clear out old fics and old concepts from my brain, so that I can get a tighter focus, and I can't say I'm really displeased with the result. Anyway:

The Edge Of The Roof
Rating: R
Summary: Ianto's only seen Jack drunk three times; two of them weren't pleasant.

I am working on Charitable Getting again! \o/ (If I get ambitious I might even fire up Valet of Anize too.) This writing stuff is hard, you guys.

The whole Author Blog Awards things was a kick in the ass to get started again, though also -- and I cannot believe I am saying this -- the thought has crossed my mind that I could use the money. The idea of looking at my writing as an actual source of income is just so bizarre and absurd.

So many things about writing are bizarre and absurd, actually. It is utterly ridiculous to get a bound, published book in the mail with one's name on the cover. Sometimes it crosses my mind that Nameless in print may very well outlive me, and I have to sit down for a while. The other day I stumbled across a page of reviews for Nameless that were for the most part rather tepid, and I found I wasn't actually bothered by the criticism there -- what bugged me was that people had paid money for a book they didn't like. I mean, it didn't bug me enough to offer them refunds or anything, but I was faintly troubled that they had given me money and didn't like what they got.

You know what in my life has prepared me for all of this? NOTHING.

SAM, UNPREPARED.

But it is funny though, so that's okay.
btw, in that last post, I in no way meant to intimate that I'm unhappy with the reception Nameless has had, or that I am unaware that it is beloved by many. I know a lot of you liked it and bought it and I thank each and every one of you, because it thrills me to know it. I was having an Existential Moment, that's all. :D

PROS AND CONS OF STANDING UP ON THE TRAIN ALL THE WAY HOME:

Pro: Get to pretend like you're surfing on a rocket ship.
Con: Ow my feet.

Pro: Good balance exercise!
Con: Ass sweat (other peoples').

Pro: Feel virtuous about letting grannies and people with little kids have seats instead.
Con: Mouthbreather exhaling constantly on the back of my neck.

Pro: Get to body-check the guy with the annoyingly loud music as hard as you want, every time the train sways.
Con: There was a dude on the train today, I swear to god, who had boogers in his hair.
