It's amazing how far into my head (or, if you prefer, out of reality) I go when I have an extra day off. Readjusting to work is like trying to remember something that happened last year, it's weird.

Fandom Awesome: [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer is doing a summer round! Writer In A Drawer is a fic writing contest (in this case, Torchwood fic) where writers are given a weekly prompt and their final offerings posted anonymously. Readers and writers then vote for who should go on to the next round and who should be "drawered", until a final winner emerges. You can read the rules-and-warnings and sign up here; signups close on the fourth. There are a limited number of slots and after that it goes to a lottery to see who goes in, so please only sign up if you're committed.

Last round I participated and had a lot of fun, got some good criticism and was very pleased to have won against some stiff competition. I won't be participating this time, not for lack of love; one, I feel it's good to step aside and let others compete, and two, I've just come off a couple of high-pressure projects and could use the downtime. I will be reading and voting, though, so picture me in ermine, watching the new knights joust from the sidelines.

If you're looking for something a little less competitive, [livejournal.com profile] retconbookwrite is a fic exchange themed around the Torchwood tie-in novels. More info here; signups close on the 7th. I relink this because last time I, like a genius, linked to a locked post about it on a personal journal.

...I have no other content. Memorial day was awesome, I did nothing, and this morning has been eerily quiet. :D
Ohay, you know what would help me write interestingly about my existence?

Not being so exhausted that I am unable to notice the world around me!

I don't know what happened there, because I got the usual amount of sleep last night, but apparently the fact that it was quiet at work today derives from the fact that due to fatigue I had no short-term memory of all the phone calls I handled.

Then I left work, caught the train, fell asleep on the train, missed my stop, woke up, caught the train back, staggered up the stairs and collapsed into bed.

Now I think I'll have some cheerios and go back to sleep.

If I'm getting sick, I swear to god I'm going to end the world. Don't think I can't. I have powers the internet wots not of.
