Here I was all set to do a post about signal boosts and how I handle them, and then I get a chance to post one! :)

Meg -- whose LJ I'm going to leave out of this for safety reasons -- is a regular reader/commenter on the cafe and she's in a bad situation at the moment. She wrote to me:

I'm in the midst of trying to escape from an unhealthy and somewhat dangerous relationship and move back home with my 2 yr old son. I was hoping that you might mention that I am in need, and my etsy shop.  I have lots of lovelies, and I'm trying to sell enough that I can rent a truck and get out of here within a month.

It's not so much for me, but I'm worried for my son's safety.

Meg's Etsy shop is http://www.etsy.com/shop/wearwolfgirls. I checked it out and it has a lot of cool stuff in it, including some neat steampunk bling, so please have a look if you've got a minute. I asked her also if she would be willing to accept donations, and if you have a few bucks you'd like to donate her paypal address is snoylm at gmail.com .

Thanks guys :) There's a mum out there who appreciates it too.
ONE:

I got knocked down by a bicycle. NOT MY FAULT. Asshat was riding his bike along the pavement, texting someone. I moved defensively, because I used to be a very avid cyclist and I know how to move to avoid them. Due to texting, he swerved. Into me.

*nurses skinned elbows* I want a cookie.

TWO:

Meg sent me an email after the outpouring this morning and asked me to post it. To wit:

I'm usually good with words. But words can't express my astonishment and overwhelming gratitude to Sam and the Cafe. I'd started to lose hope and thought I'd never find a way to do what needed to be done for my son, Jack. Your response to my plea for help has completely and utterly renewed my faith in the generosity and beauty of the human spirit. There still is magic in the world and today, you all made it real for me.

I have a long and difficult journey ahead of me, but you have made that first step possible, and have given me back my hope for our future. Today you have all shown me that nothing is impossible, no matter how difficult it may be. And this story will be told to my son when he is old enough to understand, as a brilliant example of how wonderful people can be and what a difference one small act can make.

I can never repay the kindness you all have given me, but I am promising to do my best to pay it forward when I can.

Awwww.

THREE:

[livejournal.com profile] 888mph is working to save baby birds from being crushed, and you can help for free! It's a matter of DO NOT TEAR DOWN THIS WALL. (And if that doesn't intrigue you, what would? :D )
