God, it begins.

The summers in Chicago are the price I pay for, well, living in Chicago. Aside from the expensive food, the occasional crazy person following me to the train, and the tourists, of course, but summer is the big one because it lasts for FOUR MONTHS. Four months of complete misery. Sometimes five.

I like the cold. I like jackets and scarves and hats, I like snow and having a good excuse to stay indoors where I belong. I do not like heat or humidity and I feel as if I have, somehow, intangibly, done this enough. I have had enough heat in my lifetime. I want no more of this eighty degrees at seven in the morning crap. It's crap! It shouldn't be eighty degrees ever, let alone while I'm trying to walk to work.

On the other hand, Coworker Crush has a tank top on. So, things could be worse, I guess.

It's been an exciting morning here in the air conditioning, anyway. I've signed legal documents and sent cards and networked people and written both fiction and fanfic, and also there was a Star Trek pun at some point or other, and an article about Picasso.

And now, lunch. Om nom nom.
I've been putting off trying to fold the Lotus because when the website tells you "You should have a BIG piece of paper to practice with!" you know trouble is ahead. Especially when the first significant fold of the piece is a sink fold, because sink folds were invented by some minor demon to torment enthusiasts of the gentle origami arts.

Good thing I'm demon proof, because the Lotus is AWESOME.
Have I ever shared the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain with you guys? I can't remember. If I have, it was a while ago, and you could use a refresher, because you can't have too much ukelele, I feel.

My personal favourite is and always will be their cover of Life On Mars (And Assorted Variations) which you have to listen to at least a few times in order to believe that it's not a complete mess. But I'm also quite fond of the Homage To Handel.

Though of course You Don't Bring Me Flowers has its charms.

Oh, also, I was saddened to hear that Dorkania (at the foot of Dork Mountain, abutting the Sea Of Dork, capitol of Dorkistan) was missing the Crown Prince of Dork and his Grand Vizier. But apparently they've been found filming a TV show in New York, so that's all right.
