May. 14th, 2011 10:30 amI just woke up. I can't remember the last time I slept until ten in the morning when I wasn't dying of some common cold or other. I suppose it's just as well I rearranged my weekend so that I could spend Saturday at home.
I mean, either I need the rest or I'm dying of something and haven't noticed yet, and if I'm dying of something I need the rest anyway.
So today I am going to Roomba, do some dishes (and if that doesn't help me figure out where all my forks have gone, institute a Great Fork Hunt), and work on writing. Exquisite needs five scenes to be ready for beta; Trace is in a .doc file now so I only work on it at work but the second draft should be done next week sometime; and then I have to spend some time screwing around with a Super Secret Project that I will tell you guys all about as soon as I have the go-ahead. Trust me, it'll be awesome.
I've noticed lately that among my other literary flaws I'm working to amend, I have real trouble with beginnings and endings. I can write them just fine, in terms of not getting blocked or messed up about them, but they're always the parts I have to go through and rip up and repair. I suppose it makes sense; beginnings are establishing and it's the hardest part of worldbuilding, and endings are conflict/resolution which on a grand scale are also hard to do. The meat of a story is usually in the middle, the workmanlike part, and can't be altered too drastically or you destroy the story. So on instinct I tend to preserve that, which I think is wise. I'm good at middles!
And now imma go make some waffles.
