May. 13th, 2011 10:07 amIt's Friday, and I have a PHOTO POST for you!
Starting with something that is sadly unimpressive: this, mes enfants, is what an envelope containing ten million dollars looks like.
When my family came to visit, we stayed in a hotel near the Hancock Building. Every morning when we walked out of the hotel I'd say "Mum, look up!" and she'd look up at the building and just swear. IT'S SO TALL.
This Photo Post has a special GUEST PHOTOGRAPHER: my mum. Who took a picture of the Old Town sign while we were in Old Town, the giant Weber Kettle on the Weber Grill, and the Fu Dog in a Bulls uniform we saw outside a gold coast hotel.
I think she also took photos of ALL the Thorne Miniature Rooms, but this one came out the best. Doesn't look like the ceiling's only nine inches from the floor, does it?
You know what else is in Old Town, aside from signs? This guy. I don't know what he's doing but I guess he's having fun.
I like how Pier One says these are "Letters or Numbers Spheres" instead of "Ceramic Bingo Balls".
McCormick & Schmicks: eat a fish while one WATCHES YOU FROM THE WALL.
This week I found a new route to the train from work, one that takes me underground and also up in an outdoor elevator. I thought I really don't take enough random photos of Chicago, so here's one taken in Lower Chicago. What you're seeing on the right, all those girders in the "ceiling"? Those are holding up THE STREET.
And finally, here is the long-awaited cover of my Sushi Kit. Someone who reads kanji please settle for us whether those nigiri in the upper left are salmon or tuna. And also what those maki with the corn-shaped stuff in them are in the lower left.
