Sep. 13th, 2011 01:24 pmI just had lunch with my new team. (I'm going to be managing their projects and seeing to their comforts; they are now MINE.) It was messy and fun and I got frosting from cupcakes on my tie BUT
What I want to talk about is this: I did not realise Awkward Coworker was on my team.
He sat next to me at lunch and we were like some kind of terrifying Monty Python sketch. The number of times one of us asked the other a question while the other's mouth was full was amazing. We should go on the road and just have dinner conversations, people would pay to watch.
I knew the names of everyone on the team but didn't always have a face to put with it, so everyone introduced themselves. One woman introduced herself and then added, "I fall down a lot." I told her she did not have to feel alone anymore, which got us into how I showed up to my first day of work at this job in a full-arm cast.
Anyway, they seem like a bunch of really laid-back, intelligent people, and I get to work with Coworker Falls Down A Lot and Awkward Coworker and (also a surprise) the rarely-seen but much-appreciated Coworker How Are You So Beautiful.
Which reminds me I really need to do that poll about what my new icon should be. VIZ:
