Oct. 8th, 2011 10:34 amI was up with the chickens today!
Except I'm allergic, so I will pet them rather than eating them. Good chickens!
Today is the day of random Getting Things Done. I'm waiting on grocery delivery (OMG YAY), and I just finished editing about half the photos for the photo-yearbook I make every year. God damn I did a lot of stuff this year and it's only October. The narrative of 2011 begins with the Great (Not Really) Chicago Blizzard, and documents Hearts On Michigan, several museum visits including Surprise Federal Reserve Museum, one camping trip, Mum's visit in May, Farmer's Market field trips, Sausagefest Chicago, Sam Visits the Meatloaf Bakery, Marilyn Monroe Terrorizes Downtown -- and that's without even getting to the Pedwaytripping, Texas, my new job, and the time Jeff Eastin LOLed at me.
But one can only Photoshop for so long before one needs a break, so now I'm attempting to understand how to build a website.
It's not like I've never done this before. When I was a teen I had several websites, but that was back in the days of Tripod, the days before flash, frames, and really before social media, when you wrote an HTML file in notepad, uploaded it via FTP, and if you were really fancy you added images and maybe tables. I haven't put up a website in a decade. It's...a process. But Lulu's new "Author Spotlight" page is hideous, so if I want to make my books look pretty I have to do it myself.
This could get interesting. I'm well on my way, though...
