Nov. 19th, 2011 03:52 pmI had meant to go to Book Expo today, but it's chilly out and windy, and I can't seem to shake this cough. I'm actually sore today from coughing. So instead I've been a lord of leisure, and I'm spending the day in bed with hot apple juice and documentary films.
I also watched The Spirit. Man, that is a truly terrible film. It's not often I feel sorry for actors, but in this case I can't imagine any of them are proud of that. Whenever Mum sees a terrible movie with good actors she always says "Someone had gambling debts!" though in this case I think it's simply that none of them had agents willing to advise them that past-due bills were still better than being in The Spirit. Or maybe Frank Miller has some kind of dread hypnotic power. Either way, it made me wish MST3K was still around, or that I enjoyed even enough of the film to drop two bucks on the Rifftrax of it.
I like the whole superhero genre thing in theory. It's the practice that regularly lets me down.
Anyway, I'm going to go back and watch some more Nova now. Human evolution has never been more awesome!
