Good morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways To Give:

Anon linked to a fundraiser for a musician who is trying to raise enough to stay at CalArts. You can listen to her work here.

[personal profile] everbright linked to [personal profile] thingswithwings, who is taking commissions to raise money -- she was raising money for fees for her visa so she could stay in the US, and she's fortunately reached that goal, but she could still use help with her bills.

Anoni linked to a fundraiser for Ger Tysk, a cosplayer and con photographer who is raising funds to make a cosplay photobook "to document one of the most visible elements of geek culture across the USA in interviews and full-color photographs."

Help For Free:

[livejournal.com profile] gypsylady let me know about a call for information from America's Test Kitchen: "We are looking for down and dirty eateries in the following cities: San Francisco; Washington, DC; Portland, Maine; New York; Boston; Los Angeles/Santa Monica; and Chicago. These are inexpensive spots that are not trendy, have been around for a while, and represent something unique about their city." Submissions can be sent to questions@atkradio.com.

Eldabe is looking for DragonCon attendees who might have a free bit of floor space. She has a friend who is attending D*C as a way to escape from her home life for a bit, but she can't afford a hotel room and just needs somewhere to crash.

News To Know:

[livejournal.com profile] lavenderspark has an update on a fundraiser from last week's RFM, raising money for a family with a son who was hit by an IED overseas: "He has been moved to Richmond, VA and is responsive. He can communicate by blinking and is on his way to recovery. The fundraiser has met and passed it's goal, but the family could use all the financial help they can get as both parents are currently unemployed."

For years, Scouts have been returning their Eagle Scout medals to the Boy Scouts of America with letters of protest over the BSA's homophobic and transphobic policies. It's never been very public; I only know it's been happening because a pal of mine did it when we were in high school. But Boing Boing is now documenting these letters to help make this protest more public. They also have a link to Scouts for Equality, where you can get involved in lobbying the BSA to change their policy.

Just For Fun:

Ecaterin over on my writing blog (I know you have an LJ but there are like three Ecaterins with various spellings, ack!) linked to ManyBooks, a website for finding free ebooks for your reader.

Claire over at Nonprofity has the Brand Management Apology Matrix, where you can build your own "PR Apology" for the next time a corporation effs themselves all up (and if you want a premiere example of "effing yourself all up", just google Chik-Fil-A news.) She also has an article on the four worst ways to be murdered at a charity event in case you're looking for philanthropy-related murder mysteries.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). Remember, brevity is the soul of RFM.
