HOW CAN I BE THIS HUNG OVER. I had half a beer!

I went out to R's karaoke gig last night, which is always a pleasure because I get to see my normally disorganised and somewhat socially oblivious friend turn on the charm and become KING OF ALL HE SURVEYS. On the other hand, it makes me feel so old, because I genuinely do not understand why we need the music loud enough to be heard a block away when we're in a room the size of an industrial shipping container.

Anyway. I went, I drank half a beer, it was fun, I got to see R which I haven't in AGES. But this morning I am suffering for my sins.

Fortunately I totally knew this was going to happen and compiled the week's reccslist yesterday. FANFIC RECCS AHOY.

Avengers/Torchwood: Times Three by 51stcenturyfox -- Steve/Tony, Jack/Steve, Jack/Steve/Tony. Jack and Gwen show up in New York to confiscate some tech Tony really shouldn't have; Steve remembers Jack from the war, and they confiscate him right back. I've been waiting to recc this one FOREVER, and now that it's done I can.

Avengers And Co:

Ride It Out, Wait It Out by BGB -- Steve/Tony, Teen and Up. Steve comes to terms with the new century, and Tony comes to terms with all these people suddenly living in his home. There's a lot of good Steve stuff in this one, and Steve and Thor tooling around Manhattan made me LOL.

Questionnaire by storiesfortravellers -- multiple ships, mature. The Avengers fill out some new paperwork, including questions such as "If I am aged backwards, who should be my guardian?" and "If I am hit with sex pollen, who is permitted to assist me?" Cracky, bantery fun.

The Butterfingers GDI Stark Guide to Problem Solving by Epiphanyx7 -- mainly gen, Teen and Up. Tony's bots have a secret project they're working on, and OH MY HEART I LOVE ROBOTS THIS STORY IS SO GREAT.

The Evolution of Clint Barton by Morgane -- Clint Barton/Phil Coulson, Phil/OCs, Explicit. Essentially Clint's backstory for the movieverse, but also the story of Natasha, and a love story. Dark but sweet.

An Eyeless Face by Not_You -- Clint/Coulson, Teen and Up. A lovely strange piece of magical realism where Clint doesn't actually have eyes of his own -- but something in the dark gave him all the eyes he could want.

Dirty Captain America Songs by historymiss -- mature. Does what it says on the tin, and well worth a read if you don't mind getting "Star Spangled Man" stuck in your head.

I've Got Soul (But I'm Not A Soldier) by Yunuen -- worksafe, no ships. An awesome Avengers vid to the tune of All These Things That I've Done by The Killers. Good music and fine editing.
Sometimes I want to review a book to share its awesomeness with all of you but I'm too damn tired. It's the Three Things problem; the reason I started doing Sam's Three Things was so that I wouldn't feel required to do any actual intelligent commentary on any given show, but I still had the record that I had a) watched it and b) felt things about it.

I'm a big fan of Chip and Dan Heath's book Made To Stick (which I reviewed here) and I recently picked up another book of theirs, Switch, which is full of interesting advice and chatter about the human condition. I truly enjoyed it, and I am too tired/hungover/brainless-this-week to actually review it.

BUT I READ IT AND IT WAS GOOD. YOU SHOULD READ IT TOO IF YOU LIKE NONFICTION.
Colleague #1: How do you look so nice all the time?
Colleague #2: What?
Colleague #1: You look like it's eight o'clock on Monday morning. All snappy.
Colleague #2: For me, it is Monday. I live in the future.

That's right, I work for THE DOCTOR'S research department.
