Good morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways To Give:

[livejournal.com profile] maeritrae has linked to ThisNik, who is raising money for top surgery. He's offering photos, cards, and other awesome perks in exchange for donation.

[livejournal.com profile] swordage and [livejournal.com profile] madripoor_rose linked to [personal profile] ilyena_sylph's call for assistance after a driver hit their parked car; insurance won't cover a replacement and they needs transportation to get to work, so they're raising money for a down payment on a new car.

Anon linked me Sundayspumpkin's call for assistance to help cover bills in the wake of several financial hits.

[personal profile] highlyeccentric and [personal profile] cleo herself both linked to Cleo's request for assistance raising $1000 to get much-needed surgery for her cat. She's offering fic, beta services, and baked goods in return.

[livejournal.com profile] dbzlives is participating in a video game marathon to raise money for Extra Life, a children's medical care charity, and is looking for sponsors.

The Organization for Transformative Works is having a fundraising drive on AO3! If you use AO3 for reading or posting, this is a great chance to show your support.

Help For Free:

[personal profile] sinesofinsanity is a quiet, clean, nonsmoker looking for a roommate in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

[livejournal.com profile] fandom_academic is doing a thesis on computer-mediated relationships, and is looking for members of their target group (fandom) willing to fill out a quick survey on fannish relationships and social events. You can read more here and fill out the survey here.

[livejournal.com profile] mirfainlasui is desperately seeking to rehome two cats; she's in Chicago at the moment and the cats are in England, which is complicating matters. She's looking for people hopefully in southeast London, but will take the cats anywhere in England once she returns in November. You can read more and see photos of these beauties here.

[personal profile] brainwane let me know that there are a lot of back-end changes coming to the Wiki family of websites (Quote, Pedia, Commons, etc) and encourages people to file bug reports if they encounter them.

News To Know:

[livejournal.com profile] moyakite let me know that there's a National Coming Out Day sale on Smashwords through October 19th, for LGBT romance/erotica. She recommended Daisuki by Hildred Billings.

[livejournal.com profile] reebchan posted information on the University of Chicago's Cultural Policy Center events.

[livejournal.com profile] evilstorm linked me to a story about a user on Gawker who has revealed the brickspace identity of one of the most notorious users on Reddit, who has played a huge part in the racist, phobic, and misogynist aspects of that site. I'm not sure how I feel about sharing this; I strongly believe in the right to anonymity online, but I also think this man is a repulsive creep, the sort who is the reason we have asshats trying to make everyone on the internet use their "real" name. But the article is also about how admins looked the other way as certain parts of the site became cesspools, and about whether it's more important to protect anonymity or to protect those an anon is attacking. So I think it's information people should have, and a good chance to figure out where those boundaries lie. (Please do not have that discussion in my journal, however; I don't need the stress. That's what your own journals and the article comments section are for.)

Just For Fun:

Mark linked me to Picasso Meets Jack Kirby. OMGAHAHAHA.

[livejournal.com profile] jonaht linked me to some very amusing public transit signs.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). Remember, brevity is the soul of RFM.
