So I was all, I'd kind of like to do a Reverse Big Bang.

A Reverse Big Bang sounds filthy, but I promise it's not. For those of you not in fandom or not deep in fandom, a Big Bang is a fanfic fest where authors write fanfictions (usually with a fairly high wordcount; my last one in Who/Torchwood I think the minimum was 20K words) and then the fanfics go to artists, who produce pieces inspired by or illustrating the fic. And it's fun! But I've done it once and it's also kind of stressful. I thought I'd like to try the switchup, where artists submit a work and authors select the work they want to write and write about it.

I wasn't sure, though, because:

a) I haven't written really much at all this year.
b) I'd like to not break my novel-a-year streak and this is year five!
c) I hate to flake on things.

But then I double-checked the rules and the minimum for the Reverse Big Bang was 6K. Hell, I thought, I can do 6K in a weekend, that'll be fine. I'll spend a weekend writing something for a nice artist!

That was two weeks ago.

The Big Bang fic is currently at 23K words and rising.

There are so many ways in which I win and fail simultaneously, I could not list them. So much fail! So much win! But I think it's a really good story, and when it's ready I know you guys are going to love both the story and the magnificent art for it. I got a really great artist, and she's a kick to work with.

Maybe this will get me out of the block. I just need to bring this fic to a close and pretend the novel is the next chapter or something.

MOMENTUM!
