Prestigious east-coast not-for-profit that I interviewed with last week called me up to say they are flying me out to interview a second time.
FLYING ME OUT
I assumed that even if I got a second interview, and even if it was in person, I would be paying my own way out there and making my own travel arrangements. BUT NO. Free trip to the east coast, huzzah!
But what this really means is I couldn't possibly have been as awkward on the first interview as I thought I was, because nobody would hire the kind of awkward I thought I was. So yay! I can fake normality!
This is actually important to my mental state right now. It's been a rough couple of days, for no real reason other than my wonky brain chemistry, and it's actually quite a boost to be faced with irrefutable proof that I am not as totally unlikeable as I sometimes think I am.
If I take this job (and if offered there is a fairly good chance I will) then I shall have to create a new icon. No longer a corporate samurai; I think I will be EMPEROR OF RESEARCH.
