Good morning all, and welcome to Radio Free Monday! Slightly late this week...

Ways To GIve:

[personal profile] iamshadow linked to [personal profile] nonny, who is raising money for a friend's top surgery (they're only a few hundred dollars shy). You can read more here, including a donation link.

Leslee is raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Team In Training, preparing to run an Olympic-length triathalon. You can read more about her goals and donate here.

[livejournal.com profile] auntyros has just launched a Kickstarter to pay for a professional editor for their next self-published book. There are some cool rewards, including hand-knitted socks!

[livejournal.com profile] evilstorm linked to a This American Life program about gun violence in Harper High School in Illinois, where last year 29 students were shot. There's a fundraising drive to raise money for the school, which will lose $1.6M this year.

[livejournal.com profile] mint_green linked to Kamapon on Tumblr, whose cat has been diagnosed with cancer. Kama is offering art commissions (at a very reasonable rate) in exchange for funds to help Tomo get the treatment he needs.

Fans Helping Fans:

[personal profile] holli is looking for anyone who's going to Dragoncon this year and has space left in their hotel room. The only preferences are that the room be within walking distance of the con and that it be bed or couch space, not floor. Holli can also offer a ride to folks going to the con from the DC area. You can contact Holli at hollimichele at gmail.com.

Nici's brother Joe is writing a documentary about Crocker motorcycles and the Crocker Company, and they're looking for photos, found footage, or family history about Crocker bikes. If you have something to share, even if it's just tips on where to look, please contact crockerdoco@gmail.com!

[livejournal.com profile] resonant8 is applying to an Executive Assistant position with a not-for-profit and is wondering if there are any XAs out there who can give an idea of the kind of work it is, and what sort of questions to ask in an interview. You can contact Resonant via email at resonant8 at sbcglobal.net.

[personal profile] greedy_dancer and [personal profile] jedusaur have a comment-based survey about fannish identities, activities, and modalities, which you can read and participate in here.

News To Know:

[personal profile] strangesequitur wanted to remind everyone that on July 15th, Yahoo will be purging any accounts that haven't logged in for twelve months or more. If you have an account that you've neglected – especially if that account has "password reset" account ownership/admin ability on file with other websites and services, (such as LiveJournal) – you may want to log in to Yahoo and/or update your contact information with those other services. I was hacked this way when someone else got control of my old hotmail address and used it to get my LJ password. Don't let it happen to you.

[personal profile] lizzy linked to SogenCon, a mid-sized anime/sci-fi/fandom con in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. SogenCon will be taking place over Labor Day weekend this year, and they're especially looking for folks who want to host panels this year.

Anon linked to the Words Of Pride giveaway, where you can win ebooks and paperback books focused on LGBT fiction. Read more and find out how to enter here!

[personal profile] shanaqui has an update here about the results of the 5K for cancer and the t-shirt project that was posted in last week's RFM.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!).
Greetings from Starbucks!

Yes, I am a Starbuck in a Starbucks.

I am however not drinking coffee, though it occurred to me that after the nasalplasty I probably could without the caffeine inflaming my sinuses shut and causing stabbing headaches. I'm not all that fond of the taste, though.

Awesome news -- Daily Dot featured Hater Free Wednesdays in an article today, AND I HELPED.

I'm chilling here while waiting to go down the street to the sleep clinic, for another sleep study. I don't even know why anymore, I just do what the doctors tell me. It is rather nice not to have to take the train home, and spending a night away from my cluttered flat and dirty dishes is something of a relief. Even if I am spending it covered in electrodes in a bed with a camera pointed at it.

Fun with medical procedures!
