I WILL DIE STANDING.

So, it's my third day in the new office, and I have to say that if we had to move to a terrible place, at least they gave us nice desks.

My cubicle is smaller, though there's better storage, but the best thing about it is that the portion of the desk where my monitors rest is adjustable. I can raise or lower it depending on my needs, which is great because the last cube had a desk that was just sliiiiiiightly too low for me. But it also goes up to standing height, and I hear standing while working is all the rage now.

I do like it -- it makes the mixture of computer-and-paper work that I do easier, and since I basically hate chairs it relieves the awkwardness of sitting in one (you should see me in large chairs; they're basically just structures across which to artistically drape myself). That said, the leg cramps are occasionally awe-inspiring.

I'm doing all the good ergo stuff you're supposed to be doing; sitting when I get tired, standing with my weight equal on both feet, making sure the monitor is at the proper height and I'm not reaching up at all to type. But I read on one website that it takes 4-6 months to get used to standing all the time, and I believe them. I can do about three hours in the morning, then I just do like 40-60 minute bursts for the rest of the day.

Ow, museum foot, I have it.
