editrx has been struggling a lot lately, and is facing a lot of bills, a lien on her house, and overdue rent on her independent bookstore. She's currently raising funds to pay back rent to keep from being evicted; you can read more here and help out here; you can also do your Christmas book shopping online at Starcat Books. She also has jewelry for sale on Etsy.

ribby linked to a fundraiser to rebuild the Butte Creek Mill in Eagle Point, Oregon, which burned to the ground on Christmas morning. The historic 143-year-old mill was the main economic source for the community, and still sold flours and mixes ground at the mill. You can read more here and donate to the rebuilding fund here..

Today I did my job interview. That was...strange. Relaxing, given I already have a job and this is as low-risk as it gets, but still, strange. I think they really liked me. I'm very likeable in interview mode. I suspect this job could easily be mine, and now I just need to decide if I want it.

Then we went to Snarf's, which is a sandwich chain that is way more delicious than anything named SNARF'S has any right to be. Oh my god their roast beef is amazing. And Mum ordered an Italian sandwich with capicola, which in turn led to her discovering capicola, and now she's obsessed. She's done some googling. (She gave their gluten-free rolls very high marks for crispness, too.)

Today's origami figure was a sled (instructions here) which was actully somehow easier than yesterday's.



But what really amused me is that today is New Year's Day...observed.



I know what they're going for, it's just...still really funny.
