Wow! This is frightfully funny, I love it! Where on Earth did you get inspiration for this?!

Date: 2005-07-06 04:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sam-storyteller.livejournal.com
Thanks :D It was originally inspired by Gangster No. 1, a film where Thewlis plays the head of a crime ring in the 1970s. It sort of....rocketed off from there :D

Genius, strange very different, and genius.

*seconds the call of 'genius'*

Brilliant idea, deliciously funny (I especially loved Ron getting a .35 to cheer him up, and Hermione's bookkeeping) and incredibly well done. I am really impressed, and clicking straight into my favourites list.

Sam, are you going to update this for HBP?

*does puppy eyes*

Please?

I really should, shouldn't I? I'll have to think about it. I'm not sure how I'd manage it...

I wouldn't have expected the concept to work, but it does beautifully. I especially like the literary bordellos; do they sell top-quality chocolate as well?

*favorites* you can make the oddest ideas surprisingly believable. Who would've thought I could read something like this and think 'you know, it really makes sense. (plus, gangsters harry Hermione ron and remus is hot)'.

"He had the Dursleys whacked."

Absoulute genius. I love Remus being the uncle, it is so different to how other stories portray him as mild mannerd and love little Harry taking after him.

I think the Uncle set me up to be "whacked," because I've revewlessly stalked your stories so long. *lies dead on the floor, still clutching her sides in rigor mortis*

OMGWTFBBQ!1! I love this so much it's making me babble like a little fangirl *scowls* Anycase, I have the major case of the loves for Bookie!Hermione and Uncle!Remus. *sniggers* Never really imagined Remus as anything other than a mild mannered professor, but I TRULY TRULY love this version of Remus, he's sexy and snarky and just wonderful as an independent business man. And YAY! for Remus/Sirius! Is there more of this? *goes off to look*

Hmmm. Excellent. Funny thing is, I can totally see Remus as a crime lord. It's always the quiet ones, huh? And Hermione as a bookie was equally excellent. Finally, that girl is making some use of her mathematics skills. Hooray for the working girl!
A sequel please?

P.S. Highly enjoyed the endless succession of Jimmys and the Dursley-whacking too. Sounds like someone's been watching a lot of mafia movies.

*sighs (again) in pleasure* My plot bunny has now been killed ded. It can now rest in peace, as the definitive wizarding gangster fic has now been written, and written jaw-droppingly well.

De-lurking for a second here...

I reread this story last weekend with a couple of friends - somehow, gangster!Lupin and this Harry keep dragging me back to your lj - and was nominated to share the mental image that popped up whilst doing so.

... a small, struggling rat... the Thames on a moonless night... and cement shoes...

Thank you for writing such amazing stories!

Oh dear me no. See, it goes like this:

A small, struggling rat... the pet store on a moonless night... and a snake's cage.

Gulp.

*cough* Never mind. Next time I will read other people's comments first.

But I do adore it so!

Especially Hermione as a bookie, for some reason...

Oh
My
Good
God of Gangsters,
this story was excellent. I absolutely LOVED it, right down to my mental image of Hermione going around with Padfoot and a ledger, talking to groups of wizards who are all uneasily eying said shoulder-high dog. *giggle* Uncle!Remus is just perfect, snarky and sarcastic and just ... sexily awesome, I guess would be my next s-word. Wonderful story, much much love. Keep writing!

omfg!!!

I have been faithfully going thru every single fic I can find by your tags, mostly the ones that are either remus-centric, or remus/tonks, except for your Stealing Harry series which is the ONLY remus/sirius fic I will ever read.

But this...THIS...

This has got to be the only fic I have EVER read that managed to use the word cannoli in it! I looooved it! hahahhah!

This has got to be the very funniest thing I have EVER read! Thoughts of Gangster No. 1 ran thru my head for a moment, but this is even better!

Don't touch it! Don't adapt it for HBP, don't update, add on, it is PERFECT as a standalone! Just looking at it, it's perfectly clear it is AU, and is absolutely amazing as it is!

Thank you so much for taking my mind off of my real life drama for the time it took to read this. I was laughing so hard, I spilled my coffee....and almost dropped my connoli.
