Nov. 29th, 2005 09:48 pm"The interweb, if you will." AHAHAHAHAHA.
Sam's Three Things About House:
1. Dude, all those Warricks* about Chase's dad culminate in that? "My dad died as a subplot"? On the one hand I'm pleased they didn't milk the cancer angle for all it was worth like most shows would have done; on the other hand, why the hell didn't they? It would have contributed to some variety of plot. Also, I would like to point out that I called the father's-death-as-the-telephone-call as soon as he said "I was on the telephone." Lucky will be my witness.
* Plot arcs which don't impact the episode but which exist only to hammer home a point are hereby dubbed "Warricks" after Warrick Brown, who can't stop talking about how extremely married he is. Before tonight, Chase's dad was a Warrick, because he's been mentioned in four episodes straight now.
2. "What are you hiding?" "I'm gay." Do I need to say more? Seriously, which fansites are the writers hanging out on? WHICH ONES DAMN YOU.
Transcript:
Stacey: If Chase screwed up so badly, why didn't you fire him?
House: He has great hair.
Stacey: What are you hiding?
House: I'm gay. Oh! That's not what you meant. It does explain a lot, though. No girlfriend, I'm always with Wilson...obsession with sneakers...
3. Okay, it's a neat new way to tell the story, but it's still the same old story, alas. Then again, how much action and adventure can there be in the life of a diagnostician? Writing interesting plots in the ER is like playing tennis without a net. Sure it's easy, but where's the challenge? I've said all along that story is not the point of House, anyway. Make your peace with that and you'll enjoy the show much more.
3a. My comment was gonna be "Blackmail. Awesome." but I've decided to change it to reflect just how completely ready I am for this Stacey arc to be over. I'm so, so ready for that. So ready.
Also, I'd like to point out regarding the footnote to #1 that "extreme marriage" is a great idea.
