I CAUGHT A MOUSE TODAY. HA.

The area in which I work is next to a lab area, and while I'm not allowed access (it's a Clean section) I often see people carrying mice or rats down the hallway, and once a week the monkey cages get wheeled past us to be cleaned (sans monkey, alas). Nobody knows how, or where it came from, but one of the zillions of mice got loose and proceeded to do a full tour of our floor, ending up in my office.

At first, I said I'd catch it and Mama and Troublemaker made fun of me because I was edging around the photocopier, where Steve McQueen Jr. had gone to ground. I didn't want to move the copier frankly because I didn't want to kill him. He'll have to be euthanised anyway, but that's no reason to crush him painfully.

The tables turned when Steve Junior ran out from under the copier and straight under Mama's desk. She promptly shrieked and fled for the hallway. Troublemaker stuck around a little longer, but she eventually bolted too.

So, around four today, I and Anna The Lab Tech ended up on our hands and knees, rattling desk drawers, each wearing a pair of gloves and holding empty tupperware containers menacingly. She spooked him out of a hole in Mama's chair (Mama didn't sit in it the rest of the day) and I smacked the tupperware down on top of him, trapping him inside.

Then I looked at Anna and said "Can I keep him? Please?"

Alas for him and for me, Steve Junior went to the big euthanasia room in the sky ere I left the building.

I managed to get a lot accomplished after catching a mouse armed only with tupperware, but none of it was as interesting. I picked up a package at the post office, bought some felt for the inside of my boots (I've worn through the heel lining on one already) and ascertained that there is no resume paper anywhere for miles around.
