question, and more applause

"Might be like Peter's always getting -- lame first card, transformation, Emperor on the third draw."
Riiiight. Okay, then.

So, in light of this previous statement:
The point was that wizards knew how to deal the cards properly, and knew how to channel magic into turning over the proper card at the proper time.
...does that mean
1) Peter's trying to tell them something and it's not yet too late for them to wake up and acknowledge it
2) somehow, one or more of the others also knows something, but it's a subconscious denial thing
3) there's a Big Damn Destiny thing that's just too big to get around,
or
4) nothing really, you're just having fun over there, grinning to yourself as you type this up, because you can't wait to get on with it now that you've knocked out James and Peter for the night?

Coincidentally, I read this right after your 5th installment of Cartographer's Craft, with the Emperors game. I must say, in all your different universes, you're making me a happy Lupin fan.

Well, at the point we're at in Canon, Peter does (or rather did, before HBP) have some power -- V's right-hand man, you know :D And also he ends up better off than James (dead) and Sirius (prison, then dead) so amongst the four of them he would be Emperor, most of the time.

I was shooting mostly for number three -- Big Damn Destiny. :D

Thanks for clearing that up.

I guess I'm used to seeing pre-1981 Peter as a cringing toady in fanfic. When I see him holding his own among the others, I assume he's already got A Devious Plan set in motion. I mostly wanted to be sure it wasn't number one (in which he's either showing off, or trying to give his friends one last chance to pay attention and beg him to change his mind).

You're really such a good author. I love that you've got all the Marauders in here, and I love the way they sound ♥

Joyful Evil Monkey Day! I got a tarot card for Christmas and so I was wondering if this story, being subtitled "How to Play Emperors" would have any clear-cut instructions, but apparently not. You should do a mini-post and explain it, please?

Fabulous. I love the idea of Emperors! What an interesting card game. Are you willing to give it up to fanon and allow other writers to use it in fics?

Oh yes -- it'd be nice to have credit for the invention, but use it if you like. Thanks!

I went searching for this fic months ago and someone found it for me. However, I only got the chance to read it now...hours before my last law exam. As you can see, I got full marks for my time management skills.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your fic. The characterization was wonderful and the card game was just ingenious. One can really tell that you put a lot of thought into this story. Oh, and the sex was alright I guess ^_^''...

BTW: I cannot believe that Remus does not like The Beatles! Blasphemy!

Apart from that, of many genius lines, this one was priceless:

"I worked for that inheritance, I spent countless hours pissing my parents off to get it," Sirius said.

This has always been one of my favorite stories.

Is the post with the rules for Emperors still around or was that lost in the hack? I was hoping to show it to some friends of mine.

I need to repost the Rules to Emperors. I do still have it, but it's not back up in post form yet. Thanks for the reminder!

Umm, umm. *waves* Your writing is utterly fantastic. I loved the thought that you put into the Emperors game (actually thought it WAS some kind of card game until I read the comments. XD) And that you obviously took your time in setting up this whole thing. The sex, by the way, is fabulously, wonderously smoldering HAWT. <3 *pumps fist* Write more! (If you have the time. :) )

I really loved your fic; it was funny, at the begining, and cute,at the end. And I liked your Peter; I'm used to read stories where he doesn't exist, so I have to thank you for not forgetting he's a Marauder too!!

Beautiful story, wonderful read. Long and different and makes me want to not only play tarot, but to take a road trip. It's still got that taste of the UK in it, which I like and don't always see with road trip stories, and it's nice to see Remus behaving like a teenage boy and not an antisocial, asexual 80 year old in the wrong body.

Marvelous job.
