LOL I was like Awww, matrilineal... wait, that's the wrong bit of the timeline whut.

Also, how come there was no showdown with The Company? I mean, aren't they pissed off about people muscling in on their territory and being all nice and non-kidnappy?

Alas, there was not time. *sighs* In my head, they don't really do a "showdown" as such, but they can of course find people much faster than the Company, and they can warn people about them. I see it more as a corporate takeover -- the stronger Hirou International grows, the more they learn about the Company until eventually they are able to institute a change of power at the very top, which leads to Hirou absorbing the company and instituting a regime change :D

Hmm, it's a bit at odds with the show's omnipotent presentation of them... I'd have thought Thompson would show up with a cunning plan or at least kidnap students or something. But of course, there's the time issue :P it's amazing you finished this during the hiatus as it is.
