Happy Sunday!

I have just one thing to say to you all:

(That's from Tonight's The Night, which is John Barrowman's usual combination of mildly painful and utterly charming. It doesn't do the his pink shirt justice, but I didn't know they even made day-glo pink dress shirts. I suppose he has them done custom. "Hey, could you make it pink...and blinding?")

You know, he's a lovely person for the most part, but fuck that show is just painful to watch. If my live feed hadn't crashed and burned

I don't find it so awful. There are a few bits I find it easy to skip, but in the end the majority of those were the bits with the people performing, just because I got bored. Most of the rest is rather sweet.

*blinded* He probably goes "what colour haven't I worn before that most straight men won't wear?"

Well, I'm sure he likes the eye-catching quality of it. It certainly does catch the eye...

LOL all one has to do to keep from cringing is embrace his joy in doing things for others. It is awesome. He loves the kids, loves the grandmas, and just doing nice things for people who have done things for others, and those who simply are loved by their families.

How can one not love that?

Granted, Barrowman singing to that policeman was kinda odd, but that's what his family wanted so that was cool. Grin.

The "candid camera" stuff makes me cringe no matter who does it; with Barrowman there's a good ending because he unmasks, but I always feel it's rather cruel to play pranks on people on national television.

I don't think the yay necessarily erases the cringe; I can watch him enjoy himself and still think "Wow, that was painful" -- like someone enjoys talking to me on the train, but I don't enjoy talking to them :D I'm glad he has fun doing it and I think he does good in the world with it, though.

I don't like the contrasting lapels. /quibble.

But I love pink! Any shade!

I like the contrast between lapels and jacket, but I don't know if the lapels quite work with that vivid a shade underneath.

Oh god. I have a shirt and a dress that color, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to wear either without remembering that .gif from now on.

I think I remember him saying on Twitter that the shirt was custom-made, yes.

As I understand it, he has most of his shirts tailored -- apparently he likes extra-high collars.

Oh... right now all that's coming through is the pain - I haven't seen the show you're talking about, ever, or even heard of it. Hello from a continent far, far away!

But I have to admire how he's always out there doing his thing. His crazy adorable thing. Happy people rock.

TTN is something I think Barrowman cooked up himself; it's part variety show, part wish-granting. People write in an nominate friends or family to have a special wish granted (usually to do with performance) and then Barrowman makes it come true. Like, that episode a woman did a duet with Dionne Warwick, a teenager got to dance with his favourite dance troupe (that's him LOLing at Barrowman on the right), and two sisters got to perform on the show as the witches from Wicked. Barrowman does stunts and talks to the audience and hosts it and all.

Did you know he's doing a childrens' show now (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00l5z3r). With animals. I don't really know what it's about (though I can guess from the name...) I just heard his unmistakable tones emanating from the tv the other day.

What I love about John Barrowman is he looks at something, says, "Could be gayer," and then he makes it so.

I once worked on a production of Hello, Dolly! where we rented the costumes from another production, and when they arrived we found the costumes for the Sunday Clothes number were all NEON.

So we changed the lyrics to Sunday Clothes, backstage, to "Put on your Sunday Clothes, and watch your retinas buuuuurst..."
