I have just one thing to say to you all:



(That's from Tonight's The Night, which is John Barrowman's usual combination of mildly painful and utterly charming. It doesn't do the his pink shirt justice, but I didn't know they even made day-glo pink dress shirts. I suppose he has them done custom. "Hey, could you make it pink...and blinding?")

Oh, I have no qualms about it anymore. If someone starts talking to me on the El I say, "I'm sure you're a very interesting person, but I don't want to talk to you right now." It works about eight times out of ten, though you have to be willing to put up with the five-times-in-ten that they make a crankface at you for daring to point out that they're forcing their company on you.

I was just using that as an example of the fact that just because someone loves doing something doesn't automatically mean it's not cringeworthy for others.

It's true - anything that involves two people can be completely enjoyable for one and very much not enjoyable for the other.

I have the Librarian Aura, so people generally start by asking legit questions because they are lost/confused. I enjoy being friendly & helping them, but then I want to spend my time alone. It's hard to make the transition; usually I use reading as a defense and it works okay.

Whereas I actually have people ask me to take out my headphones so they can talk to me. It's intensely annoying. :D
