I got out of bed when I remembered that this would be posted today. Consider yourself the reason I'm getting my butt to class.

On another note, I like this, although in a way it makes Ianto's death seem even sadder, if he knew.

OMG LOL you're going to kill Ianto! And you're making us happy while you do it! WHAT CONTROL DO YOU HAVE OVER OUR MINDS SAM HUH?

Also, I love how Ianto can go from sexing up Lo to accepting that he's going to die like the good brave soldier that he is and then back to figuring out what to buy for dinner. Oh SAM. Words just can't express how much I love reading everything you've ever written.

PS: Awesome not-really-there-threesome is awesome. Hoping you write some type of follow-up with MOAR PORN PLZ kthxbai.

Awww, poor Ianto :-(. That entire conversation with Jack at the end there... and him realizing that Levy really isn't "his" Jack, not any more. So sad.

From: [identity profile] sam-storyteller.livejournal.com
I think he has in some ways known Levy isn't "his" Jack, but it's the first time he's really articulated it.

There's something that's terribly heartbreaking about this. Ianto is so magical, so lovely, and still so human.

I actually quite like Levy. He's matured in ways that Jack and, of course, Lo haven't.

It's a pity that the story doesn't really involve him except as a catalyst.

I find that, as much of a bastard as Levy can be, I like him too. I found myself wishing I could write him and his adventures a bit more, though I do give him his own scene and a bit of backstory in chapter eight. I feel for him; his life is Distinctly Not Easy.

Eight or nine days ago. Would that be, oh, about when Ianto and Lo first had sex? Methinks Ianto has made himself a little too memorable.

I think I see where this is going. Especially with a prior reference to a Jones. And Ianto's Torchwood credentials working for the first password but not the second. And Torchwood disagreeing with the Time Agency about whether to have Levy fix the problem.

I think what I like best about this story (and many of your stories) is that it's not all easy-peasy linear narrative, with obvious if-then actions. I enjoy trusting you as a writer, trusting that you've carefully crafted the parts and pieces so that it's a satisfying story, regardless of the happy-ending aspect of it. (I mean, I love a happy ending as much as the next girl, but sometimes that's not the story that needs telling.)

Granted, I'm bursting with OH NOES and WUT?!?!? and wild speculation right now, but it's in all the best ways; I don't know where this is going, but I *know* it'll be good and worth the wait! (But, oh Friday, PLEASE HURRY.)

Thank you! I'm glad you feel that way. I try to make it -- readable but not easy, if that makes sense; perhaps "complex" is a better word. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail -- good to know I succeeded here :)

I just got back from vacation to find seven chapters of fic waiting! Excellent. It's been a really satisfying read so far, but now that I've gotten so drawn into these characters, I have to actually, you know, wait between chapters.

Also, a Samfic that ends in death and/or angst? I don't buy it. :D

"Don't fucking apologise," Ianto snapped. "I'll be your good soldier and I'll save your life, Jack, because I like Lo and what happened to him shouldn't have happened to anyone. I will make him what you are. I'll go back to my time and smile at you like I don't know I'm dying and I'll die when I'm supposed to die, because there are things that are more important. You taught me that. So don't apologise to me."

Jack closed his mouth.

"Now leave," Ianto added, and he was actually stunned when Jack stood and tucked the folder under his arm and left, swiping his porterminal for payment as he walked out the door. Ianto sat over his coffee for a while, then bent his head and rested it in his hands.

AUUUUUUUGGGGGGGH. Punch me in the heart, why don't you.

Still, I recall a passing reference in a previous chapter to a -- I think the term was "gentleman adventurer"...?

Poor Ianto. He just got all relaxed, and now THIS. He's super level-headed about this, although I would expect no less from him. Still, this is a sad choice, not really a choice at all. Poor brave Ianto - I hope this has a pleasing resolution. Hey, if he could be transported 3000 years into the future, I'm sure they'll think something up to keep him alive:)

Also,

"nudity was an effect Jack Harkness tended to have on people" - should be put on a T-shirt!

Vacations are hard! :D

Ianto is having a bit of a rough time of it, but he is at least sensible enough to know that if the choice is between him and the universe, the universe comes first. That's Torchwood, after all. That being said, sometimes the choice isn't what people think it is...

I think the suspense might kill me before Friday. If it does, I blame you.

I'm wondering if Levy is telling everything, or still holding something back. Has he lived linearly from the 21st century to the 51st, or did he hop ahead?

And what's going on with 21st century Jack? Did he get drunk? Have more memories came back to him? How did he forget in the first place? Was it part of the 2 years the Time Agency supposedly stole from him. Did Levy had a hand in that? I bet he did!

I'll trust you won't break my heart. Right?

P.S. I have a multitude of issues with CoE.

Date: 2010-04-01 01:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sam-storyteller.livejournal.com
Sorry! *unrepentant grin*

I did leave the 21st century hanging a bit. I don't know if Jack ever got drunk and thought about it; I didn't write it in, but he probably did, and probably all it did was give him a temporal hangover. :) As for how he forgot in the first place -- well, it's been a hundred and fifty years. I'm thirty, and I can't remember the last name of the girl I was head over heels for when I was fifteen. Things slip away, y'know?

I do try not to break hearts :)
