Every morning I go through all the Dead Isle feedback I get, respond to what needs response, and fix what needs fixing. Then I go through the new chapter I'm about to post and do any last-minute tweaks.

Chapter Twenty has now been posted, and I count at least two random, kind of amusing in-jokes that I don't think were intentional when I first wrote it. See if you can spot 'em. :D

Tomorrow's chapter will probably go up late; I have all-day software traning offsite, and while I can still access email/livejournal/etcetera, I doubt I'll have the time to do any editing. I have to actually pay attention, because I'm learning to use Microsoft Project, which I have never used before. It looks like Excel but acts like it's possessed, so I'm bringing some holy water just in case. (I am packing a lunch. The area where they hold offsite training is in an urban food desert, and I don't want to scavenge from the vending machines again.)

Friday, I suspect I will end up trying the Breakfast Hamburger.

For science.

I envy admire your commitment to the scientific process.

I'm sorry to say it, but Project is in fact the devil itself. Good luck with it!

I've been loving Dead Isle, although I haven't had a chance to comment on it yet. Am SO glad you timed the release of this now! It's really been helping me keep my sanity.

Glad I can help with the sanity! :D

Sam!

I had the most vivid dream this morning that you posted an entry announcing that your mother was going to have sex change surgery.

It was a very serious, thoughtful entry about discovering you're transgender later in life, or something. But you didn't say what you would call her now.

Just thought I would let you know. :)

Ahahaha, oh man, my mum. That would be...interesting.

I do know some adults in mid-life who have transitioned/are transitioning. It's pretty hard, I think. Society sucks sometimes.

I bet we'd call him "Mum". :D Unless he wanted to be called Dad, I suppose.

Society sucks most of the time, it seems to me. :/ But things do change, albeit slowly (as seen the last couple of days with North Carolina and Obama).

Yes, but then what would Lucky-Dad be called? Unless...just that? Kinda catchy. :)

Oh, we mostly call him Lucky. I call him Dad when I remember to. He's a very laid back guy :D

Ah, okay. I wondered why you wanted to make that switch when you were already an adult and had been calling him Lucky already for years, right? (My mom married my step-father when I was 14, and he was always Jud, if especially because we all knew my biological dad is an asshole, so at the announcement of the marriage Jud said to me, "I hope I can be a better father to you," and I looked straight at him and said, "I don't want a father." He reminded me of this conversation some years later, and I laughed with mortification at my bitchy teenage self, but he said that was actually quite helpful to him in knowing what kind of relationship he should and shouldn't attempt.)

When Lucky and Mum got married, Mum requested we call him Dad if we felt okay with it, and I was fine with that, but hell if I can remember most of the time :D He understands it's not personal. He's really pretty lucky -- I was old enough not to be a snarky teen, and Emmy was young enough not to care, and Bernard is an asshat anyway so he's not relevant.

:) That does work out well. I was wary around Jud for a while, but we grew into a much better relationship.

I sometimes wonder how Christopher and Lucas are doing? Are they still traveling via train for frequent visits? What a great couple.

Oh, I imagine so. Lucas probably comes out for the winter sometimes. There's a half-finished novel in my hard drive somewhere that has them as a cameo -- the hero gets thrown into the river and washes up miles away, and Lucas and Christopher happen to find him half-drowned on the riverbank. :D

That sounds awesome! Please finish it sometime and share. :) I think so far they are my favorite except maybe for Ianto and Jack but they were what introduced me to you so a bit nostagic with them.

This comment made me do a double take, since my cousin and his partner are named Lucas and Chris. For a second I wondered if they knew Sam...what a small world, ;)
