Now, I'm not saying McDonald's poisoned me, but right after I posted about the S'More Pie I came down with a thundering sinus headache. I ended up leaving work early, staggering home much in the style of a zombie, and collapsing in bed for a few hours. The headache essentially lasted until yesterday, when I slept for fifteen hours of the day. I am singlehandedly keeping Sudafed in business.

I've had a hard time writing lately; I keep starting stories and then losing interest. I'm bouncing around in both Tunnel and Pirate Country, but not really getting anything concrete done in either one. It's not that I don't have ideas, I just have ideas and go "oh, that's cool!" and then get bored before I've written them down. It's like my brain wants to switch off for a month or two. I tend to have dreadful forensic-investigation "documentaries" on in the background whenever I'm home, as a way of mentally checking out. I don't know if it's backwash from all the Dead Isle work I did these past two months or what, but it's becoming tiresome.

I have designated a release date for Dead Isle: September first, a Saturday. That gives me time to get a few last commentaries back, finish typesetting, set up a cover -- I'm pretty excited, I'm working with some artists on this -- and get myself a proof copy to look over before I make any final changes.

On another note, Havocthecat reminded me to remind Chicago locals that PocketCon, a one-day teen-oriented comic convention focusing on works by artists of colour is this weekend. It's being held at the Greater Grand Crossing Branch Library on Saturday from noon to six and admission is free. Also, libraries have air conditioning. AIR CONDITIONING.

I had to give up eating anything solid from McDonald's about 10 years ago due to getting skull-splitting sinus headaches 40 minutes after eating from there. You could set a watch by it. I've speculated that there's something in either their oils or preservatives that brings it on.

I've heard something about MSG doing that, I think?

I've heard the same thing but I've had food that had MSG warnings on it and not had anything happen. Puzzling but I don't miss McDonald's food enough to regret giving it up. :)

Huh, intriguing. Perhaps it IS the food.
