Periodically I go through my journal history and dig out the privatelocked entries that serve as my scratch-paper notes, so that I can air them out and figure out where in the vast database of my life they should be filed.

I had totally forgotten about this list, which is clippings from reviews of my fic that the writers didn't necessarily intend me to see (I monitor where my name goes on the web using Google Blogsearch and the "Saved By" feature on Delicious).

I feel like I should make some kind of SAM THE STORYTELLER film poster and incorporate these into it:

Everything you feel you shouldn't love, but will.

Deeply weird. Also, awesome.

Quiet but dense.

Not necessary, but good.

Creepy yet oddly endearing.

I think the last one is my favourite. :D
HOORAY FOR HEALTH INSURANCE.

It is glaringly obvious that I am a n00b at all this "being a grown-up" stuff. Fortunately I've discovered that frankly admitting one's incompetence often charms people out of being annoyed with you. Not that it matters; I have an appointment next Wednesday to get my teeth looked at, and the Wednesday after for the pesky leprosy on my ankle. It's such a bummer to lose a foot to gangrene, don't you think?

I was considering going to the library this afternoon, but omg so tired. And R's gone until Monday, so this is prime opportunity for me to 1. sleep in the early evening, when normally he'd have the TV on, and 2. CLEAN.

SALVATION ARMY RUN THIS WEEKEND *flings clothes at the fundies*
I loathe carrying around change, but I was trying to assemble the $4.50 needed to pay my library fees this afternoon and what I ended up with was two dollar bills, five quarters, a nickel, and twelve dimes. After a moment or two of thought about how annoying it is to carry all that, I got online and used my google-fu to come up with this. The "gift box" is the perfect way to use two dollar bills to tote around five quarters, a nickel, and twelve dimes (they fit perfectly actually).

I love cash origami -- one time I made a bet with my professor, Dragon Lady, in order to motivate our students to show up -- I bet her that we'd have less than twenty students, and after we announced that fifty showed up, so I officially owed Dragon Lady five bucks. Knowing that she was a rampant democrat, I folded it in the shape of an elephant to give to her, just to tick her off. It's fun to leave origami money as tips, too.

Given the heat out, I've bought a load of berries in my next grocery delivery and I'm going to make summer pudding with those and the angel-food cakes from Costco which Mum really wanted to buy me, despite them being a bit on the subpar side tastewise. They will be DELICIOUS in summer pudding, though. And I have to make it before R gets back or he'll be all weirded out by the dish in the fridge with the books piled on top of it. I'm also grinding up some terrible "health" cookies for a pie crust for a cheesecake (unfortunately, from a box).

NOW IS THE WINTER OF OUR DESSERT PAN MADE GLORIOUS SUMMER, AND WE EAT WITH FORKS!
