Chapter Two of Charitable Getting is up!

Chapter one went well -- caught a few typos and some bad phrasing, which from a purely editorial stance is good, and also got some major notes about the structure of the chapter, which is...going to be a lot of work, and tricky work at that, but also good. The main problem people seemed to have was with keeping the female characters separate, so that's something I definitely need to work on.

Also apparently I need to stop describing people via their hairstyle, which is some kind of literary tic with me because I'm a tiny bit faceblind, so I often identify people in real life by their hairstyle. This can make my work difficult, as a lot of the people I work with have the same super-fashionably cut-of-the-moment.

I was biologically designed to be a hermit. Never fails to amuse me. :D
OMG AHAHAHAHAHA I AM CURSED.

I just got off the phone with my mum, who was laughing so hard she could barely talk.

WAIT, REWIND.

I am a good grandson, and Mama Tickey was very generous with her grandchild gifts this year, so I wrote her a thank-you note on a card I picked up at the drugstore. I thought it was mildly funny; the outside said "I'm thinking of starting an agency to adopt out retired rodeo bulls as house pets" and inside "What could possibly go wrong?" That's chuckleworthy, right?

And I figured, the next time Dad Lucky (my stepfather) had his weekly call with Mama Tickey (his mother) he'd let me know that she'd received it, because they're Southern and really, really good about passing around information.

ANYWAY, today my mother calls me and says, "Mama Tickey got your card, and she's in the hospital."

I said, "Wait, what? Is she okay? The card could have waited."

"No, no," she said, "Mama Tickey got your card and laughed so hard she had an asthma attack. She used her inhaler but wasn't feeling well so she called the paramedics."

Now, Mama Tickey is fine; she's eighty-five years old and these things happen, and she's going home this afternoon. Mum and Dad Lucky laughed themselves sick over this. AND YET IF I HAD KILLED MY GRANDMOTHER IT WOULD NOT BE SO FUNNY WOULD IT.

I should tag this "Ways I Have Injured Other People".

Omg it's totally the funniest thing that's happened all week. Poor Mama Tickey. Now I have to send her a get-well card. A very serious get-well card that is not in any way funny.
