Jan. 18th, 2011 12:47 pmA significant portion of Chicago was iced over this morning. I say significant because the portion that was iced over involved a) the pavement outside my apartment building and b) the pavement outside my office building. I slipped and slid quite a bit to get here, but at least I didn't fall. One year and counting since the last broken limb.
When I got to work there was a parcel on my desk, which turned out to be a pretty little hourglass, about four inches tall with green sand on the inside, supposedly a 15-minute timer. Mum saw it and thought I'd like it, and I've been messing with it all morning, spacing out my duties in fifteen minute increments. I'm torn between keeping it at work where I can show it off and taking it home where there is no cleaning crew to threaten its integrity. Not that I think one of them might nick it -- if they've kept their hands off my sushi stapler this long, I know they're resistant to temptation -- but they tend to knock things over.
I have a lot of feedback on Trace I haven't yet addressed, in part because there's no urgency to get it done before I post the next chapter. I will get to it soon, but I'm enjoying a bit of a rest first. Good suggestions all, though, and I have a lot to gnaw on.
But not today, as today I get off work early to go to the dentist, which means no gnawing for a while...
