Colleague: Hey, Sam’s Boss! Sam did GREAT work on this project, I wanted to let you know!

Me: That was really nice of him to do –

Colleague: *includes copy of the project in email*

Me: – but OH GOD please don’t let Boss see that I didn’t do part of the project because there was no way to be tactful about answering that one question directly.

Boss: Hey, I saw the project you did!

Me: OH GOD

Boss: Really tactful of you not to answer that one question directly. That’s not information they need. Good work!

Me: …is this what divine intervention feels like?
