You know, that last post was a lot funnier before I collapsed in the middle of the Marshall Fields building. Yeah, by the fountain. Fun! Or, you know, not at all.
I'm pretty sure it was a panic attack, though it was my first time actually having one and kinda felt like I was dying. I'm not agoraphobic and while I don't generally like people I don't tend to mind crowds, because in crowds there's no awkward requirement for socialisation. I don't know what triggered it; possibly a combination of being ill and not having had any lunch, though I felt well enough this morning to venture out with no real qualms. I have some other theories but I need to do some thinking-through first.
Say what you like about the evil of Macy's, the people who work there are on the ball. They got a big area around me cleared and hustled me into an office, got me seen by a nurse and offered to hail me a cab when I was ready to go. I ended up walking the two blocks to Michigan Avenue Immediate Care, possibly the best non-emergency emergency room in Chicago, and they confirmed that it was probably not a heart attack, so well done me.
I did not get to do my Christmas shopping, though, so some of my near and dear may get their gifts a bit late. I also didn't get back to Fox & Obel, which is a bummer. I caught a cab home from Immediate Care and I'm feeling okay now, just a little shaky.
Yes, I am going to see a doctor about this, though not today. I texted R and he's going to check on me later this afternoon and make sure I'm still all right. I had some cheese and bread when I got home, and now I'm going to lie down on the couch and watch TV for a while.

Date: 2008-12-13 08:14 pm (UTC)You were saying you had cold symptoms at work yesterday or the day before. Could this be the effects of some stealthy virus lurking in your body?
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE OR BE SERIOUSLY ILL!
Understand?! *stands with hands on hips doing that angry Mama look at Sam*
